Jason Bourne Has Returned

Many Bourne fans were disappointed when Matt Damon announced that he will no longer continue the franchise after The Bourne Ultimatum. They say good things happen to those who wait and now Bourne fans are ecstatic to know that Matt Damon reprised his role as the main character in the American spy action-thriller film.

Jason Bourne is the fifth instalment of the Bourne series and it directly followed the Bourne Ultimatum in 2007. The movie was again directed by the acclaimed director Paul Greengrass and co-written by Christopher Rouse. Here are some things about the new film that you should know:

For those who watched The Bourne Ultimatum, it concluded at the disappearance of Jason Bourne. He secluded himself from the world and kept himself alive through illegal fighting. Meanwhile at Iceland, Nicky Parsons cooperated with Christian Dassault, another whistleblower, to expose the wrong doings of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Nicky was seen hacking CIA’s mainframe server and found something that made her anxious about Jason Bourne.

She went to Greece to inform Jason but this alerted the CIA Director, Robert Dewey and Cyber Ops Division Head, Heather Lee. Heather tracked both and pursued them while Dewey initiated The Asset. Nicky is killed but she threw a key to a safe to Jason. Jason intended to find answers about his family and past. He tracked down Christian at Berlin and demanded help in deciphering information.

Jason eventually found out that his father, Richard Webb, was a CIA analyst and had something to do with operation Treadstone. With this, Jason started to have memories of his past. He later found out that The Asset killed his father. Jason managed to go back in Las Vegas. Dewey was killed in the process and The Asset as well.

The movie concluded when Heather offered Jason Bourne the chance to help her save the country. Jason replied he will consider it.

Apart from Matt Damon in the titular role, the cast also includes Riz Ahmed, Vincent Cassel, Vinzenz Kiefer, Scott Shepherd, Ato Essandoh, Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles, and Tommy Lee Jones.
