The smallest kind gesture can make a huge difference in someone else’s day. A little effort on your part can cheer up an unhappy person or boost someone’s self-confidence. What’s more? They will be encouraged to be nice to other people, too. So, be nice to people and make a huge difference inn someone else’s day.
- Smile, It Cheers People Up
A smile is contagious, so smile at people you meet during your day. Your smile doesn’t have to be massive, just a genuine, friendly grin will do. People love a genuine smile, especially shop workers who are usually treated as if they don’t have feelings.
- Say Thank You
Good service should be expected, but if you receive exceptionally good service, express your gratitude by saying it verbally or writing to the company or person who served you. Many of today’s jobs are poorly paid, but hearing compliments from customers will help compensate a bit.
- Lend a Hand
Perhaps, there’s an elderly who needs help to cross the street or a woman carrying too many grocery bags. Lighten up their burden by lending a helping hand. They may not know you, but knowing that there’s someone out there who is kind enough to spend a few minutes of their time to help is always appreciated.
People talk to each other, but not everyone listens to what the other says. If your friend needs to vent, let them. It’ll make them feel better afterwards, as well as feel good knowing that there’s someone who cares for them.
- Let the Other Be Right
Even if you think the other person is wrong, it can be nice and save the two of you from the negativity if you just let the other one be right. Let’s say, someone cuts you in the middle of the traffic. Instead of blowing the horn and showing him a rude gesture, just let it pass and move on. Who knows, maybe the person is going through a rough time and is not in shape to deal with what’s right and what’s wrong.
- Make Them Laugh
Laughter is good for us, so try to make people laugh. Tell a joke, point out something funny, or send them a link of a funny video to watch (which they can then pass on to make someone laugh, too).
These are just a few of the many things you can do to brighten up someone else’s day. Sparing some time to do as many of these as possible will not only make others happy, but make you feel good about yourself as well.
